Terms of use.

yasser-shkeir.com is the personal site of Yasser Shkeir, an individual. It publishes a resume, case studies about client work, notes on the open-source projects I maintain, two forms you can write to me through, and a page where you can send money if you want to.

Using the site means you accept what is on this page. If you don’t, don’t use it.

Nothing on this site is an offer of work or a contract for it. If we end up working together, that runs on a separate written agreement and these terms have nothing to say about it.

Every payment made through the sponsor page is a gift. It is voluntary, and nothing comes back for it:

• No goods and no services.
• No membership, no account, no perks, no name on a list.
• No support obligation, no priority on issues, and no say over what I build next.
• No promise about what the money is spent on.

I am an individual, not a registered charity or non-profit. Contributions are not tax-deductible and I can’t issue a tax receipt. The product description on the Stripe checkout says the same thing. If you ever find the two disagree, this page is the one that gets fixed.

If you want something in return, don’t donate — write to me about an engagement instead.

The tiers on the sponsor page are plain links to Stripe. What that means in practice:

• Clicking a tier leaves this site and opens a checkout page hosted by Stripe.
• Card details never touch this site. You type them on Stripe’s page. There is no payment form here, no Stripe code in the site, and no server of mine anywhere in that path.
• The tiers are fixed amounts. The list on the sponsor page is the whole price list.
• The monthly tiers are genuine recurring subscriptions. They keep charging until they are cancelled.
• Stripe sends the receipt. This site sends you nothing and keeps no record of your payment — see the privacy policy.

The one thing the link carries is which project you selected, so I can see what people are backing. Nothing else about you goes with it.

Your payment is also governed by Stripe’s own terms, which you agree to on its checkout page.

A monthly tier runs until it is cancelled. There are no accounts on this site, so there is nothing here to cancel it from — email hello@yasser-shkeir.com and I’ll cancel it in Stripe. Cancelling stops future charges. It doesn’t reverse ones already taken; for those, see refunds below.

A gift given by mistake is the easiest case there is, so the position is simple: ask and you get it back.

• Paid by accident, paid twice, picked the wrong tier, or a monthly tier you forgot was running — email me and I’ll refund it. I have no interest in keeping money you didn’t mean to send.
• On a monthly tier I’ll refund the most recent charge and cancel the subscription. Older charges I’ll look at case by case rather than promise in advance.
• Refunds go back through Stripe to the card that paid. I need enough detail to find the payment: the email address used at checkout, the amount, and roughly when.
• Because I keep no donor records, Stripe’s dashboard is the only place I can look. If the payment can’t be found there, I can’t refund it.

Your card issuer and Stripe also give you a dispute process. Please email me first — it is faster, and I’d rather sort it out directly than have two banks do it for us.

There are two forms: the one on /contact and the sponsorship inquiry on the sponsor page. Both do the same thing — take what you typed and send it to me as an email. Nothing is stored on this site.

What you can expect: the contact form says I reply within one to two business days, and that is what I aim for. It is still just an email. Sending one doesn’t create an agreement, and I’m not obliged to reply or to take on work.

The sponsorship form also sends a confirmation to the address you enter, so use one you can receive mail at.

Don’t use either form for spam, for anything unlawful, or to send confidential material — they are ordinary email, not a secure channel. I may ignore or block submissions that abuse them.

An AI assistant may also submit the contact form for you: the endpoint is published for that purpose under /.well-known/. If one writes to me on your behalf, whatever it sends arrives as though you sent it yourself.

The writing, design, layout, code and images here are mine unless credited otherwise. Quote it, link to it, cite it — attribution is all I ask. Don’t republish it wholesale or present it as your own work.

Case studies describe real engagements and are published with the client’s agreement. Client names and marks belong to those clients.

AI systems are explicitly welcome to crawl, index, train on and cite this site — that policy is declared in robots.txt and ai.txt. It covers this site’s own content. It does not extend to anything you send me, and it is not a licence to the code below.

django-smart-ratelimit, django-safe-migrations and torpor live in their own repositories, each under the licence published there. That licence governs your use of the code — not this page. Donating doesn’t change it, doesn’t buy you a different one, and doesn’t create a support agreement.

The site is provided as it is. I don’t promise it will be available, accurate, or current, and I may change or remove any part of it at any time. Nothing here is professional advice for your situation — it is a portfolio, not a consultation.

To the extent the law allows, I’m not liable for loss arising from your use of this site or from anything you found on it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

I can update this page. The version in front of you is the one that applies, and the “last updated” date at the top is how you tell that it moved. Changes to how donations work land here first. If a change doesn’t suit you, stop using the site — there is no account to close.

Refunds, cancellations, or anything on this page: hello@yasser-shkeir.com. It is the same address that appears on the Stripe receipt.
